Thornton Community Garden Launch

Thornton Community Garden Launch

3 March 2019
The Community Garden established by the Thornton Community Group Inc has officially opened.

“The Community Garden aims to create a place where people of our community can meet, create, learn, and teach while sharing in the satisfaction of growing food and having fun. It is an all-inclusive place and it doesn’t matter whether or not you like gardening” said Thornton Community Group Inc member Mr DeSanti.

“I have never seen a project transcend so many different types of people as this community garden and I have seen many community development & gardening projects in my time. I am staggered by the interest in the garden that has come from varied cultural backgrounds, men, women, young and old, abled & those with special abilities” said Mr DeSanti.

Thornton Park has its own plot in the community garden where any of our residents can use that place to develop new skills, grow their own food and learn more about sustainable living.

MasterChef Australia 2016 contestant Olivia at the Re-imagine Ageing Festival

Nutritious and Delicious

16 February 2019

Our guest Chef Olivia, a MasterChef Australia 2016 contestant, at the Re-imagine Ageing Festival in Penrith last week. Olivia showed us how adding a few new ingredients to our repertoires can create healthier, tastier dishes. Our Thornton Park team was also at the event, telling the locals all about our new aged care site opening in April.
We are taking this philosophy on food with us when creating the menus at Thornton Park, where the focus will be on offering fresh, nutritious and delicious meals.
